TRAIL STORIES

Misha and I went on an adventure a couple weeks ago in cougar country. We didn't see any cats, but it was a bit spooky. Awesome hike.

We didn't get to climb Flatiron when we went to Arizona, but we did wander the desert.

07-20 to 07-26 Shelter Cove Resort to Big Lake

07-05 to 07-13 Donomore Pass to Mazama Village.

When we stepped out of the car the piercing wind stabbed through me. I wondered how I could stand it. I really hate the cold...

Trees grow low and twisted, on Gnarl Ridge, beat down by fierce wind and deep snows, some of them skeletal...

Finally! After failure and defeat, we were going to do it!

"You are a piker if you stop on this summit. Don't crab. The mountain was here first,"  Arthur Jones.

07-26 to 08-07 Big Lake to the Bridge of the Gods.

07-14 to 07-20 Mazama Village to Shelter Cove.

After the sprawling vistas of Mount Adams, we dropped back into the burn on a faint track. Then, without warning, the trail vanished.

Misha was sitting at my feet staring up at me, his thought clear.

“Can’t you see that I am all done?”

The ground gave way under my body and the weight of my pack. I fell and pain shot through my right hip. I was stuck.

“When we share our stories, what it does is, it opens up our hearts for other people to share their stories.

And it gives us the sense that we are not alone on this journey.” Janine Shepherd
